This event starts with a Factory tour (Rhyl): Creating Enterprise’s £1m+ facility producing timber frames for low-carbon homes using modern methods of construction. It’s a social enterprise model, linking housing delivery with local jobs, training and skills development. The facility plays a key role in enabling the delivery of energy-efficient, scalable housing, aligned with Welsh Government ambitions around net zero and tackling fuel poverty.

Following this, we’ll visit the nearby Pensarn development site, where Cartrefi Conwy have secured planning for 128 affordable homes.

The scheme includes a mix of 1–5 bedroom homes, with an initial phase of intermediate rent properties due for completion around September/October 2026.

The development is being positioned as an eco-style village, incorporating:

• Solar panels, air source heat pumps and EV charging
• Green spaces, tree planting and biodiversity features
• A new active travel route connecting the site to surrounding areas

There is also a strong emphasis on community engagement, local employment and positive social impact, with the intention of creating a well-designed, sustainable neighbourhood rather than a standard housing estate.
