Delivering transformational scheme for Oldham town centre regeneration

The project is split into three phases:

1 – Conversion of the upper mall in the shopping centre to a new office for the council and separate office facilities for start-ups. There was also c7ksqm of fit out. Value of this phase c£22m. Now complete.

2 – Part demolition of TJ Hughes and extension new build to the shopping centre to provide c8ksqm for a new market (traders are moving from Tommyfield), events space and archive for the council. Value: c£35m. Completes March 2025.

3 – Conversion of a further floor of the shopping centre with 2ksqm of CAT B fit out. Value: c£6m. Completes 31^st Jan 2025.

Itinerary

10.00: guests to arrive at Oldham Council offices. 

10.05 – 10.40: welcome from hosts and ppt overview of the scheme. Initial Q&A.

10.40 – 11.00: tour of new Council office (known as Phase 1: Workspace) and The Hive.

11.00 – 11.45: depart Council office and visit Phase 3 (conversion of more Spindles to offices) and Phase 2: Market & Events, the outside of the site can be seen here.

11.45: back to the Council offices, any additional Qs and end by 12noon.

The site tour will be led by the operational leads for the project and Oldham Council’s director of economy and assistant director for strategic property and placemaking.

Tea & Coffee will be served by the council

PPE information – preferably please bring your own - hard hat, high vis and site boots. PPE can be provided by the contractor but they will need a week’s notice (if required please advise when booking).
