From historic landmark to new community
Join Women in Property Yorkshire & North East for an exclusive site visit to The Retreat, York, as PJ Livesey brings new life to one of the city’s most significant historic estates.
Founded in 1796 by Quaker philanthropist William Tuke, The Retreat played a pioneering role in the history of mental health care. Today, its Grade II* listed buildings and 30 acres of grounds are being sensitively transformed into a new community of heritage and newly built homes.
Hear how PJ Livesey is approaching the complex challenge of preserving the site’s architectural and historic character while creating high-quality, sustainable homes for modern living.
The visit will offer a fascinating insight into the development process, including the conversion of historic buildings, new-build design, landscaping and the challenges of giving this remarkable site a new lease of life.
What to expect:
Light refreshments will be provided. PPE is not required.
Members and non-members of all genders are welcome to attend.
