Join us for a construction site visit of Duncombe Square, an award winning Passivhaus and zero carbon development by City of York Council (CYC) to provide affordable housing whilst building a sustainable community.
This will be the first affordable housing scheme in York to be certified to Passivhaus standard and net zero carbon. Together with sister project Burnholme Green, these will be the biggest of their kind in the North of England. The 34 mixed-tenure homes and a small commercial unit are being developed with a fabric-first approach, utilising heat pumps and photo voltaics to ensure affordable energy bills and reduce carbon emissions.
CYC will deliver a presentation focusing on the challenges of Passivhaus and zero carbon development and share lessons learned. The tour of the site will be followed by further networking at Cakes d’Licious (a 5 min walk from the site) with a hot drink and cream tea included in the price, thanks to sponsors QAD Architects.
Please use public transport as there is limited on-site and on-street parking. Please bring PPE if available or advise of your requirements upon booking.
Members and Non-Members of all genders are welcome to attend.
