Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus – Research Hub Site Visit

Review of Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus – Research Hub Site Visit

Thursday 12 May 2022

On 12 May the South West Branch treated its members to a site visit at the University of Bristol’s Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus Research Hub.

After some networking over pastries, Kirsten Whiteley of Allford Hall Monaghan Morris Architects explained the scheme and its wider context within the enterprise zone. We then headed out on site, guided by Nathan Lynn, site manager for the contractor, Aztech Building Services, to see the works in progress.

The site is a redevelopment of two existing historic buildings and the programme is phased, with one building near completion and the second much less developed. The visit therefore offered a great opportunity to see both the bare bones of the buildings and something approaching the finished article. Structural engineer for the project, Alice Brook of Buro Happold and QS Rhian Thorne of Arcadis answered questions alongside Kirsten and Nathan as the tour progressed through the site.

Perhaps it was just the sunshine we were blessed with but hopefully also the interesting scheme and its challenges that were presented that left attendees full of praise when our tour was complete!
