Site Visit – Bassaleg School New Teaching Block – Adeilad Balch

Join Women in Property South Wales for a site visit of the new 8975m2 building at Bassaleg School; Adeilad Balch. The building includes a new main hall and dining areas, whole school LRC and key clusters of specialist subject classrooms including AOLEs and an emphasis on well-being.

The new teaching block allows for the removal of extensive temporary accommodation to provide a new building fit for the 21st century and new curriculum aspirations for Wales. Internally a dramatic treble height void above parts of the dining area is made possible by locating the main hall at first floor maximising the ground floor for social, dining and resource space.

The construction and design team includes Newport City Council, Newport Norse, Willmott Dixon, Powell Dobson, Cambria Civils and Structures, McCanns, Whiteheads and Corscadden Landscape who are working collaboratively together on the construction of this project.

Kindly hosted by Tom Millard of Willmott Dixon, the site visit will include:

• 09:00am networking with pastries/tea & coffee followed a short talk from the Head Teacher of Bassaleg School and Design Team
• 09:45am site visit including the creation of the three-storey teaching block, dining and assembly areas.

Please bring your own PPE and protective footware.
