Join Architects WilkinsonEyre on a visit to 8 Bishopsgate a 50 storey, office-led mixed used scheme in the City’s Eastern Cluster. Conceived as a series of stacked boxes the building includes high sustainability/low energy initiatives in its construction and operation, achieving a BREEAM Outstanding rating and EPC A. To enhance the visual impression each block on the western façade cantilevers over the one below it, slightly rotated and taken out of plane.
The structure is optimised to reduce steel tonnage and associated embodied carbon. The active shading in the closed cavity cladding is a key part of the low energy environmental strategy. It’s an electric first building with limited use of fossil fuels. No water goes to waste – separate drainage systems enable the treatment and recycling of water from sinks and showers, and retained surface water is used for flushing WCs and soft landscaping irrigation. 8 Bishopsgate also has higher than normal fresh air rates and air filtration.
On this visit we will see a sample of the offices and extensive amenity space (10% as well as visiting the viewing gallery on the 50th floor). You will have a chance to chat to staff from WilkinsonEyre about the project.
If you are able, after the tour join us at a local coffee shop for a chance to network and discuss your view on the building with fellow members. Tea/coffee or a soft drink is included in the event fee.
Places are limited to 15 people so book quickly to avoid disappointment. ID is required.
