We invite you to the second of our events in Dundee, to go behind the scenes at the James Hutton Institute. Part of the masterplan for two new institute-led innovation centres at Invergowrie, McLaughlin & Harvey are currently on site delivering a combined Advanced Plant Growth Centre (APGC) and International Barley Hub (IBH).
These new facilities will undertake vital research that will support food security and the future prosperity of our farming industry, while helping to establish Scotland as a leader in global food security and crop resilience to the effects of climate change.
Procured via the SCAPE Scotland Construction Framework, the UK Government is investing £45m at the James Hutton Institute through the Tay Cities Region Deal.
We will tour the International Barley Hub Field Centre – Barley is the most predominant crop grown in Scotland, supporting 40,000 jobs, largely due to its key role in the whisky industry. The IBH field centre officially opened on 2nd December 2022, this unique opportunity will give you a chance to see first-hand the processes that barley goes through when harvested.
The tour will conclude with a light lunch and the opportunity to network. The event is kindly sponsored by McLaughlin & Harvey.
Safety boots are required, these can be supplied if you are unable to bring your own depending on availability on the day
Members and non-members of all genders are welcome to attend.
The booking deadline for this event has now passed.
