Join Women in Property for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the Hutton Hub, the James Hutton Institute’s new £8.2 million collaborative centre at the Craigiebuckler campus in Aberdeen – followed by a light lunch.
Financed by the Scottish Government’s Just Transition Fund, the Macaulay Development Trust and the UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, the Hub, a new multi-million-pound development, features a variety of collaborative spaces which are open to hire for businesses and the public.
The project represents a masterclass in sustainable reimagination, where jmarchitects have transformed former laboratory and office wings into a state-of-the-art "Just Transition Hub," blending biophilic design with high-tech innovation to foster collaboration and regional growth.
The state-of-the-art facility includes a cutting-edge 360-degree Immersive Suite with VR facilities, a media server, games engine and surround sound – allowing for videos, graphics, models and simulated environments to be projected on all four walls; VR and augmented reality headsets to provide an interactive experience; a state-of-the-art podcasting, video and sound recording studio; two lecture theatres and a new café – open to members of the public.
The visit features an introductory talk by Yunming Thomson, Project Director at jmarchitects. As a Certified Passivhaus Designer, Yunming led the team in delivering this award-shortlisted facility, which prioritises circular economy principles and nature-based solutions, followed by guided tour of the hub’s unique features.
This is a fantastic opportunity to network with fellow professionals while exploring how innovative design is driving Scotland’s journey toward Net Zero.
Members and non-members of all genders are welcome to attend.
