Explore Manchester’s world-famous Gay Village with Josh’s LGBTQ+ Manchester Walking Tour!
It’s a journey through iconic monuments, touching memorials, secret street art and legendary pubs to answer the question: "How did Manchester get so gay?"
We will share stories of Manchester’s Queer heroes of both the past and the present - including underground Victorian drag balls, a 'secret' gay language, the lost history of 'Female-Husbands' and how more recently Queer activists changed and are changing the city, in the most surprising ways.
Josh has an MA degree specialising in Manchester’s LGBTQ+ history and continues to work professionally with LGBTQ+ oral histories.
He is also a native Mancunian, and founder of 'Free Manchester Walking Tours' back in 2015. At the end of each tour, Josh offers his list of insider recommendations tailored especially for LGBTQ+ visitors.
The tour is a blend of history, heritage, culture and fun.
We will meet at Pollen Bakery, Kampus for pastries, hot drinks and networking before commencing the walking our at 9:00 am. Please wear comfortable shoes and remember to bring an umbrella!
Members and Non-members of all genders are welcome.
