Mindful Design: A Psychological Lens on the Built Environment

Join Hannah Bradley, Workplace Psychologist, and Lucy Mallard, Head of Design, for an insightful and interactive session exploring the psychological foundations of workplace design. Discover how a people-centric, evidence-based approach can transform environments into spaces that support wellbeing, productivity and engagement.

What you’ll learn:

• How design elements such as lighting, acoustics and biophilia influence mood, focus and overall psychological outcomes.
• The role of colour in shaping emotional responses, including how cultural associations, symbolism and neurodiversity affect perception.
• Why integrating psychological principles into design leads to more inclusive, effective and human-centred workplaces.

Following the main discussion, we’ll head to Overbury's in-house design studio for a hands-on exploration of some of the concepts discussed. You’ll have the chance to experiment with lighting, colour and other design elements to bring the theory to life.

This session will be highly interactive, inviting attendees from design, delivery, consultancy and client-side roles to explore how psychological insights can inform and elevate decision-making at every stage of the workplace lifecycle.
