Delivering Social Value in Construction Projects – Summer Breakfast

All event fees are listed net of VAT.

We are holding a Summer breakfast at the fabulous historic private dining room at St James’ Club in Manchester.

Manchester is rightly proud of its role in driving a successful city and economy, with a growing population and business base.  However, not all of the city’s residents share in the city’s economic success with 42% of children and young people growing up in poverty and an over 50s population that is twice as likely to be out of work, have low skill levels & long-term health conditions than any other age group.

As a civic institution, it is one of Manchester City Council’s ambitions to bridge that gap and driving social value through procurement and our capital investment is one of the key levers to achieve that.  This seminar will explore how the City Council has used social value over many years, to deliver better outcomes for residents and communities.  The focus of this seminar will be on major capital programmes such as the restoration of the old Town Hall and the construction of the Factory, where the scale, intent, procurement methods and commitment of contractors has delivered significant outcomes.

This session and unmissable discussion will be delivered by

  • Angela Harrington, Director of Inclusive Economy for Manchester City Council
  • Lauren Murphy, Social Value Business Unit Lead at Laing O'Rourke.
  • Chithra Marsh Associate Director at Buttress and our National Chair
