Afternoon Tea with Independent Women: Supporting Women Before, During and After Maternity Leave

Following the success of our online and in-person Independent Women series, we are excited to announce another in-person afternoon tea and networking event. We will learn about how to best plan financially before, during and after maternity leave in order to support our network of brilliant women – as provided by Forvis Mazars and hosted in their fantastic new office space in 3 Chamberlain Square.

Having a child is one of the most joyful (and financially impactful) life events many women experience. This session is designed to help women feel informed and confident of their finances as they plan for maternity leave, navigate time away from work and transition back into their careers.

Independent women will cover three stages:

Stage 1: In the Run Up to Maternity Leave

Planning, protecting and preparing.  The months before maternity leave are a critical time to put solid financial foundations in place. Plan ahead and remove uncertainty.

Stage 2: Whilst on Maternity Leave

Staying informed without needing to stay “on”. Maternity leave brings a different pace of life, different priorities and often a shift in financial confidence. Maintaining momentum without overwhelm.

Stage 3: Returning to Work (and Beyond)

Resetting, rebuilding and moving forward. Returning to work—whether full time, part time or in a different role—often brings fresh financial decisions. Reassess and realign.

Financial decisions made around maternity leave can have long lasting effects, particularly for women. By addressing finances across the full parenthood journey—and not just at a single moment—this session empowers women to make informed, confident choices and to understand the bigger picture.
