As part of our netwalking series, join the Midlands branch for a guided walk under the historic Spaghetti Junction.
“Under Spaghetti’’ Tour takes you to a startling and unique space few people seek out. Spaghetti Junction is famous across the UK and is one of the city’s best-known landmarks. This gritty, urban underworld of canals, rivers, a park, a lake, towpaths, wildlife and street art, has a unique atmosphere which you have to experience to appreciate.
Hosted by “Explore Birmingham” we will be guided along the 2 mile route, learning about the legacy of this extraordinary 50+ year old monument, the story of its construction and how it shattered communities and inspired others. You will have the opportunity to chat with fellow attendees along the route.
Attendees are to meet at the entrance to Aston Railway Station on Lichfield Road at 12.15pm ready to start the tour promptly at 12.30pm. The tour will take about 1hr 45 minutes.
Street parking is available nearby and there is a car park at Salford Park, less than 10 minutes walk away. There are regular trains from Birmingham New Street to Aston station taking just 7 minutes or it is a short taxi journey from the city centre.
Sensible shoes and a bottle of water are advised. Please note there are no toilet facilities on the route.
This event is kindly sponsored by Brookbanks who will be in attendance on the day.
