Please join the Midlands branch for an exclusive site tour of the iconic Smithfield site in Birmingham City Centre ahead of this Summer’s Commonwealth Games.
Formerly the site of Birmingham’s Wholesale Markets, Smithfield will be the home of the beach volleyball and basketball 3x3 competitions during the Commonwealth Games. The site was cleared in 2018 as part of a £1.9bn regeneration project that will reimagine 14 hectares of land in the heart of the city centre into a new community that will feature 3,000 new homes and create 8,000 jobs. Ahead of this, the site will be transformed from blank canvas into a vibrant venue for the Games which also includes the Smithfield Festival Site.
Members of the project team will lead the tour where there will be an opportunity to pose questions, followed by a presentation on site.
This site tour is open to members only. PPE will be required to be worn at all times on site – if you do not have any, please contact the event organiser. All participants will be required to complete a short health and safety induction before entering the site.
Parking is NOT available on-site, but the nearest car park is available at Arcadian Car Park, located just off Pershore Street - Pershore Street is the entrance and meeting point for the site visit.
A big thank you to the Organising Committee of the Commonwealth Games for enabling this site tour.
