A Nice Windy Spot – Legal issues to consider for onshore wind farms

So… you have a potential site - it’s got good wind resource, potential to connect to grid, no red flags for planning… what next?

In this virtual session we will discuss the main points to consider in relation to property rights and the agreement structures typically used for new onshore wind farm developments. We will cover what are typically the: 

• key considerations for developers and landowners respectively when negotiating property rights for onshore renewable development
• main steps of the legal process
• legal structures available for the relevant landowner agreements.

The session will focus on wind developments in Scotland, but the majority of the session will be applicable to other types of onshore renewable-energy development and we will also note where there are specific variations between how similar developments might progress in England & Wales.
