South East Branch
Welcome to the South East branch for what will hopefully prove a
exciting year with the 25th Anniversary of Women in Property and
the Olympics being held in London.
We have over 400 members across our region, working in virtually
every property discipline. We have a full calendar of regular
events to enable women in the property and construction industry to
network and meet female professionals in fields that complement
theirs as well as from their own industry. We also hold events
outside London via our committees in Oxford, Reading and
Guilford.
We also offer support to undergraduates studying built
environment courses through our National Student Award programme
and younger students through our schools road show initiative.
2011 was an eventful year with our most successful networking
breakfast being on the Future of Retail with a high profile panel
of speakers and attended by 100 members and guests. Elsie North who
was one of our regional winners was the overall winner of the 2011
Women in Property National Student Awards and another regional
winner Jessica Dabrowski was one of the ten finalists. Further
South East member, Sarah Williams of Aedas won the 2011 Built
Environment category in the Women in the City Awards.
2012 has got off to a great start with a panel networking
breakfast on the Changing Face of Office space, a seminar on The
Thames Tunnel, a Burns Night & Whisky Tasting evening and a
trip to the Opera to see La Traviata.
Forthcoming events include a tour of the Cutty Sark (prior to
its formal opening by HM Queen), a Dilapidations to Disaster
seminar by Oxfam (being held in Oxford), and a seminar on Spring
Cleaning your Finances. The AGM and February Networking breakfast
come at the end of February 2012 swiftly followed in March by an
evening Spring Networking event, another trip to the Opera, this
time to see Romeo and Juliet, and Tea Tasting, the usual networking
breakfast, a MIPIM Breakfast and a Mentoring Training session.
My time as Chairman of the South East branch is coming to an end
and so I wish to take the opportunity to wish all our members a
happy and prosperous 2012 and good luck in all their work and
personal endeavours.
