The Next Step – Seek a Mentor

Mentee Claire Harris, from Stoford Properties, is an enthusiastic advocate of the WiP Mentoring Programme

I have progressed organically along my career path and, as my role and experience increased, so did the promotions and extra responsibilities.  However, about a year ago I reached a point in my career, when I realised I had come so far from my own knowledge and understanding, that the next step would be to seek a mentor.

I was pleased to discover that Women In Property have a program to help with exactly what I was looking for. The whole process from the beginning has been professional, uplifting and a joy. I expressed an interest in the areas I was looking for, to help my career and, using this, the WiP mentoring team matched me perfectly with my mentor.

A great listener

Right from our very first meeting, she has helped me so much.  She listens, gives great advice, helps whenever I ask, gives me guidance on how to improve on areas I have requested, and responds promptly to any questions I may have. I would recommend that everyone takes up this opportunity to be part of the Mentor/Mentee offering through Women in Property.

Giving back

To have someone give you professional feedback on situations where you would like to improve, who isn’t a work colleague, a close friend or a partner, is extremely beneficial. Once I have reached a point with the help I am receiving from my mentor, I would love to be able to then go back into the Women in Property program and give back my time as a mentor myself.

We need to highlight every strong, capable, business savvy woman in property as future role models, so we can give valuable advice and knowledge to others. Thank you for a brilliant program WiP!
