Join Women in Property for a tour of Blyth’s Market Pavillion site. Hear from Megan Conlan- Project Manager at Advance Northumberland and Dan Ellis MBE - Jam Jar Cinema Founder and Director about this exciting development.

Market Pavilion will be a new flagship cultural building on Blyth Market Place consisting of a three-screen cinema, a large studio and multipurpose space for a range of events, an area for creative activities and a café/ bar. The new venue will be operated by Jam Jar Cinema, who have run an award-winning cinema in Whitley Bay for over a decade.

This event offers a sneak peak preview of the venue ahead of the formal launch later this summer. Advance Northumberland have Project Managed the exciting project on behalf of Northumberland County Council and will offer some useful information and lessons learnt established during the design and build process.

The project, which was designed by local architects Faulkner Browns and constructed by Kier Construction Ltd, is set to be one of the most environmentally sustainable cinemas in the country and will:

  • Directly create 8 new FTE jobs in the operation of the Culture Centre.
  • Attract 60,000 visitors into Blyth Town Centre per annum, generating an additional £3.1m of visitor spend pa, and supporting 58 additional visitor economy jobs.
  • Support 50 learners participating in cultural education pa.
  • Support the growth of Blyth’s visitor economy, making the town a more attractive place to live, work and visit.
  • Make Blyth a more attractive and appealing place to spend time, through public realm improvements to the Market Place, creating attractive and accessible outdoor meeting and performance space for both residents and visitors.
  • Improve perceptions of Blyth among residents, visitors, and investors.

PPE is required for this tour - Please bring your own hard hat, safety boots, gloves, hi vis and glasses.

The building is physically accessible with 2no lifts. Please advise any specialist requirements.
