Family Friendly Bat Walk - Revised Date

All event fees are listed net of VAT.

Please note the rearranged date for this event which has been rescheduled due to unsuitable weather conditions.

Join us for a guided bat walk through the beautiful Millhouses Park. The evening will begin with a talk about bats given by Faye Durkin, an experienced ecologist and member of South Yorkshire Bat Group. The talk will include interesting bat facts such as how many species there are in the UK, how long they live, how they spend their year and how much their still is to learn about these fascinating creatures.

The group will then take a walk through Millhouses Park to observe bats foraging in the different habitats in the park (grassland, woodland and by the river). We’ll also be able to listen to the bats as they chase their prey, fly along and possibly even communicate to each other through bat detectors kindly provided by South Yorkshire Bat Group. Children 7+ are welcome to attend (for free) – max 2 children per adult.

Attendees should come dressed for the outdoors (hat and gloves are recommended as the temperature can drop after dark) with sturdy boots and shoes suitable for uneven terrain. A head torch or torch is also advised.

The walk will be weather dependant and may be cancelled if there is wet or particularly windy conditions on the day. Please provide a telephone number when booking so that you can be notified at short notice if the walk needs to be cancelled.

Members and non-members of all genders are welcome to attend.

The booking deadline for this event has now passed.
