Archaeology Site Tour – South Marston

The Swindon New Eastern Villages is one of the largest greenfield developments in the country. This area is well known for its Prehistoric and Roman archaeology which must be recorded ahead of development.

Join us for a breakfast and a brief introduction to this exciting project at the Carpenters Arms before heading out onto site to see the archaeological dig in action. There will be an opportunity to see the archaeologists at work, ask questions and see some of the artefacts that have been found so far.

This event is kindly sponsored by Orion Heritage Ltd who are providing archaeological consultancy to the project on behalf of the site owners, Taylor Wimpey and Vistry Group.

Breakfast baps will be served - Sausage, Bacon and Vegetarian (other dietary requirements on request).

Please bring your own PPE

• Sturdy shoes/boots (do not need to be steel toe caps)
• High vis jacket or gilet (some spares available if requested in advance)

The Carpenters Arms is fully accessible, but please note that the site visit may not be suitable for those who struggle walking on muddy/uneven terrain – if this is an issue for you, please contact our Event Teams who can look at other options to accommodate your attendance.
