We are delighted to announce that our guest speaker at the Women in Property South East Branch EGM is Elsbeth Clements, one of the two founders of Women in Property 37 years ago. Elsbeth will share with us the beginnings of WiP and their expectations on setting up the association, how it has developed over the years and what she predicts for the future. Afterwards there will be opportunity to network over drinks and canapes.
Elspeth started her career as an Architect working for the Housing Department of the GLC. She left in 1979 to start Clements and Porter Architects, initially with her husband, David Porter, who subsequently left for a career in academe, resulting in Clements and Porter being one of the very few female led practices at the time – she remains Managing Director.
In 1987 whilst attending the Spitalfields Trust 10th Anniversary celebration, she met Michelle Foster and this led to the founding of WiP. After standing down from WIP, she became involved in the RIBA, being a Council and Board member, chair of London Region and founder of the Small Practice Committee.
