Event No. 2 in our Highlands and Islands Net Zero Series
Timber has been a favoured construction material for countless generations. Though with the recent wave of alarm surrounding climate change and deforestation, it is more relevant than ever to consider the sustainability of the timber we are incorporating into our present-day structures, and how they can best be designed with the future and our environment in mind.
What makes timber construction sustainable? Join us for a lunchtime webinar in which we will discuss the process from seed to structure – with the help of two distinguished experts: Andy Sharkey, UK Forest Standard Manager at the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC), and Molly McGrath, Design Manager at Ecosystems Technologies.
During this webinar, Andy will explain the principles of responsible forestry that lay the foundation for our timber resources. Followed by a discussion with Molly, guiding us through the innovative integration of sustainable timber into modern design and construction practices.
Whether you're an architect, builder, surveyor, nature enthusiast, or simply curious about the transformation of timber into sustainable homes, this is certain to be a captivating discussion on a hot topic.
Members and non-members of all genders are welcome to attend.
