Registration Deadline: 19 May 2026

Kick off the year with a special poetry netwalk in Edinburgh. This is a chance to meet other members, get some fresh air and exercise and enjoy being away from your computer, with the added attraction of being led by poet Ken Cockburn.
You can read more about his poetry walks here.
We will start and end at the Scottish Poetry Library, off the Canongate at 5 Crichton’s Close. This was founded in 1984 by Tessa Ransford and moved into the purpose-built building designed by Malcolm Fraser Architects in 1999. At the Scottish Parliament building, designed by Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue with RMJM, we will take time to look at the Canongate Wall, featuring extracts from poems carved into stone from across Scotland. Three recent additions of lines are by living Scottish women poets – Kathleen Jamie, Jackie Kay and Liz Lochhead. We will then visit the new herb garden by Holyrood Palace, before circling the Parliament to return via Bull's Close to the Scottish Poetry Library.
Lunch is not included so bring a snack or eat before or after.
Women on maternity leave are now welcome to join our netwalks for free. No need to book, just turn up with your baby on the day.
Members and non members of all genders welcome.
