Women in Property Central Scotland is delighted to welcome expert speaker, Dr Kat Riach from the University of Glasgow to our breakfast session on Menopause & Work, at Material Source Studio Scotland. Hear from Dr Riach as she shares her knowledge and research on menopause in the workplace, and enjoy informal networking over a hot drinks and a breakfast buffet.

About Dr Riach: Dr. Kathleen Riach is Professor of Organisation Studies at University of Glasgow Adam Smith Business School, UK Delegate for the G20 engagement group, the W20, Academic Fellow of the CIPD and visiting professor at the Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation in Australia.

For the past 20 years, her research has explored the lived, bodily experience of inequality and work across the life course. This has focused on occupational health and wellbeing and ageing as economic and cultural phenomena and how women and underrepresented groups navigate different forms of inequality across their careers.

Kat’s pioneering research of menopause at work is globally recognised. In 2019, she launched MIPO, one of the world’s first online free resources to help manager support menopause in the workplace, that has since been accessed over 18000 times in 50 countries. She has since worked with a variety of public, private and national governments to introduce their menopause policies, including leading on research that resulted in national employee guidelines for NHS Scotland. In 2024, Kat became chair for the forthcoming ISO Standard on Menopause, Menstruation and Menstrual Health in the Workplace, having previously been on the advisory board for the BSI guidelines on the same title.

As well as regular keynotes and media commentaries, her reputation as a world leader in workplace inequality led to becoming a UK delegate for the G20 engagement group for gender equality, the W20. In 2024, she was named AACSB’s Influential Leader of the year and was a winner of the 2025 Herald Higher Education Awards, as well as receiving a national Imaginative Educator award by the Scottish Institute of Enterprise.

We welcome members and non-members of all genders to join us for this event.
