Research suggests that three in five menopausal women are negatively affected at work and this results in thousands of women reducing their hours, not going for promotions, taking time off as ‘sick leave’ and worse, leaving their jobs often at the peak of their careers. Now there is greater awareness and openness about the menopause in society, organisations can no longer ignore this issue as women are empowered to speak up with the aim of improving the workplace environment for themselves and their female colleagues.
Please join Morna Ronnie of The People Portfolio who will focus on actionable steps for both employers and individuals to support themselves and their colleagues in managing menopause at work. Morna’s 30-year career to date has involved supporting people in a range of ways, from recruitment to outplacement and psychometrics to training & development. Since becoming freelance in 2020, when she founded The People Portfolio. She has designed and facilitated a range of learning and development programmes including Women Returner programmes providing a range of practical support for women coming back to work after a career break.
We will also hear from Katherine Irvine, an Associate solicitor in Lindsays LLP Employment Law team who will be outlining the legal responsibilities of employers in providing support for staff, the various types of discrimination at play in relation to menopause at work including making reasonable adjustments and avoiding discrimination with a quick look at some case law if time permits.
Members and Non-Members of all genders are welcome to attend.
