Learning and Teaching Building North Portland Street, main entrance Level 03
All event fees are listed net of VAT.
We invite you to join us for a tour of the University of Strathclyde’s Learning and Teaching Building, which opened to students in 2021.
The tour will be led by project architect, Martin Jarvie from BDP, who will explain the design process behind the refurbishment of the former Colville Building and Category B-Listed Architecture Building which has a new-build hub, linking the buildings together. This non-departmental facility is a unique, collective space and houses the Student Support Services and the Student Union to provide a central support facility at the heart of the campus.
The project has won multiple awards including the 2022 AJ Retrofit Award - Higher Education and Campus; 2022 Herald Property Awards – Best Regeneration Project (Commercial); 2022 Learning Places Scotland Awards - Innovation in Delivering a Sustainable Learning Space and IStructE Scottish Structural Awards - Best Modern (Post 1960) Building Refurbishment Project. It is an excellent example of the adaptive re-use of existing post war Education buildings.
The tour will conclude with food, drinks and the opportunity to network. The event is kindly sponsored by BDP.
Members and non-members of all genders are welcome to attend.
The booking deadline for this event has now passed.
