South Wales Student Awards Dinner

Thursday 17 May 2018

South Wales celebrated the 12th annual  South Wales Student Awards evening at The Classroom restaurant, run by the Cardiff and Vale College. Over 90 Industry professionals came together for the  sell-out dinner to celebrate the success of the eight regional finalists, alongside keynote speaker Laura McAllister, Professor of Governance at Cardiff University.

Ellis Cunliffe, who is studying Construction Project Management at USW, was announced as Women in Property’s South Wales regional winner, which will see her go on to represent the region at the national Awards final in London on 18th September 2018 at Claridge's.

Women in Property would like to thank our three national sponsors, Bouygues, Linden Homes and Savills, as well as our regional sponsors, Lovell, AECOM and Powell Dobson Architects for their support of these Awards.

Speaking with regards to the evening Nigel Williams from Bouygues, who was on the 2018 judging panel said:

“Having sat on this year’s judging panel, I was highly impressed by the strength of all the candidates who were shortlisted for the South Wales finalists. It was an incredibly strong pool of individuals demonstrating personal drive, learning, determination and professionalism. The quality of these future industry professionals was exceptional and troubled the judging panel no end in identifying a clear winner.”

He added, “Congratulations to all the candidates, who I’m sure will continue on their chosen career paths to be the future leaders of tomorrow.”

Kate Rees, South Wales and South West regional managing director for partnership homes developer and award sponsor Lovell, said:

“We have women working across our business, playing a prominent part in building new homes and communities. We’re passionate about promoting our industry and particularly keen to encourage more young women to consider the exciting opportunities offered by construction and housebuilding careers, so it’s a privilege to be sponsoring these important awards and to have the opportunity to meet such a talented group of students. Many congratulations to Ellis; we wish her every success at the national final later this year.”

All of us in South Wales would like wish Ellis the best of luck at the Awards final later on this year.
