On our walk we’ll learn about the writers, artists and reformers of Bloomsbury with just a passing reference to the eponymous group. We’ll visit the streets where Charles Dickens lived and shopped, where another best-selling Victorian author lived, and find out about Britain’s first public health doctor (who also invented the world’s first waterbed!). Along the way there are poets and painters, famous and forgotten, a Carry-On star, Jane Austen, a revolutionary bookshop and the place where Dr Peter Roger (of Thesaurus fame) shared ‘interesting knowledge’ with discerning Georgians.
The walk should take around 90 minutes and afterwards we will retire to Truckles, Bury Street for refreshments and the chance to network. The walk and networking will be carried out in accordance with Covid regulations at the time. This means we will be seated at outside tables of 6 for the networking.
Places are limited so book early.
