Review of Manchester Summer Walking Tour

Tuesday 13 August 2019

The event was well attended by both members and non-members; so well subscribed in fact that an additional tour was added at 4:30pm.

We were lucky with the weather and both tours were dry and sunny.

The venue for meeting was perfect for the start of the tour as it is next door to the Emmaline Pankhurst Statue which is a perfect place to start. The food went down well and attendees were complimentary.

The tour itself was informative and the speaker Phillipa presents well by balancing facts and humour throughout. The tour did not venture far through the city but the length was appropriate to the amount of time available to the tour. Phillipa is clearly passionate about her tours and Manchester’s Women.

Members of the group were networking during the event, and feedback was very positive.

Event Feedback

"I have attended the WIP NW walking tour on a number of occasions and Philippa is always brilliant, providing an exhilarating insight into the history of the city we work and live in with great vigour and humour.  A ‘must do’ on the networking calendar of the Manchester property scene."

“The Manchester Mummy, Britain’s first transgender PC (unbeknownst to the establishment) and a horsewhipping in House of Fraser. That’s my anecdotes sorted for another year! Thank you @wipnorthwest @revealmcr for another great walking tour”

"Fantastic walking tour and great way to network and meet new and interesting people whilst getting behind the scenes and streets of Manchester;  who knew we had a Manchester mummy and that St Anne’s Church is the centre of Manchester according to the mileage on road signs!"

"Thanks again for an interesting and well-organised event. I’ll book for future ones."

"The WiP tour around Manchester City Centre hearing stories about the Women of Manchester was fascinating and thought provoking paving the way for our generation and future ones without their efforts, scarifies, pushing boundaries we wouldn’t be where we are today! The event was well organised, with a great bunch of delegates and the food was lovely - little mini burgers were AMAZING, so much so I had three!"
