Does your development need planning consent?
Most types of developments need planning consent, which adds cost and time to project timescales. However, some types of development are classed as ‘Permitted Development’, so a planning application is not required. This includes certain changes of use, such as converting a shop to a financial or professional services office, or for minor developments such as small domestic extensions or fitting solar panels.
In February of this year, the Scottish Government extended the scope of permitted development. This brought in more opportunities for changes of use (for example, for change of use to offices) and installation of electric vehicle charging points without the need for a planning application.
The Scottish Government has recently consulted on proposals to grant new permitted development rights in respect of renewable technologies and works to improve thermal insulation.
Come and hear from Gillespie McAndrew’s planning experts Colin Hamilton and Ashley McCann, who will explain permitted development rights and answer your questions.
