Jessica McGinniss, studying BEng Architecture at Heriot Watt University, is the winner of the Central Scotland Student Awards.

The National Student Awards are now in their 13th year and celebrate the talent, skills and ambition of the country’s female property and construction student undergraduates.   The judges are drawn from a range of built environment disciplines, hence the Glasgow panel included branch Chairman Samantha McCabe of Oberlanders Architects LLP, Paul Porter of Curtins, Paul Holland of BAM Properties Ltd, Estelle Little of Savills and Mairi Murray of Ramboll UK Ltd.

The judges described Jessica as “confident and engaging, with a willingness to learn and adapt to her environment.  Her presentation was well thought out and delivered.  She highlighted how the industry needs to adapt and embrace new technologies in order for our buildings to adapt to our ever-changing environment.”

The panel also awarded Highly Commended to Sophie Coffey, studying Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Strathclyde and Alexandra Abadjieva studying MA Architecture at Edinburgh.  Congratulations to all the finalists and, in particular, to Jessica who goes through to the National Final on 18th September in London.

Special thanks go to the Awards national sponsors Bouygues, Linden Homes and Savills, whose commitment and support are invaluable.
