The Association of Women in Property

Fundraising & Fashion!

We all have clothes in our wardrobe that we have never worn and won't ever wear, so we thought why not swap them for something you love & would wear?

On a typically cold February evening over 30 of our Yorkshire and North East members and guests arrived in a cosy Leeds City Centre pub, all carrying items of clothes that they never wear.  What surprised everyone was the number of items still sporting their shop labels, clearly never worn… And how many of them were high-end high street and designer names!  Women working in Property clearly have excellent taste, even if they do shop a little too much!

The evening started with a glass of wine and the chance to network, sharing horror stories of fashion mistakes before our personal shopper Elizabeth Pennington took to the floor to explain how to 'try' and avoid wardrobe disasters, with her take on 'shopping psychology'.  We hope everyone managed to pick up the odd tip to help them have more clothes they actually wear and less that hang unworn and unloved for years!

The swapping itself was brilliant to watch, everyone diving in to the piles of clothes, shoes and handbags to find a little gem to take home!

The evening was great fun and enjoyed by all… many business cards exchanged and most left with a brand new item to add to their wardrobe… some perhaps a little envious that they didn't manage to bag the piece they had their eye on! The event also had a serious aim, to raise money for charity, through ticket sales and a raffle the event was a huge success raising over £500 for Martin House Children's Hospice!

In addition to the fashion, fundraising and fun we also held our regional AGM voting in the new committee for 2011-2012.
