WIP Clay Shooting - Thursday 21st July 2011

Another very enjoyable day was held by WiP Newcastle on Thursday 21st July when 16 people headed to Bywell Shooting Ground, Felton to have a fun day of Clay Shooting.

This is the second year WiP Newcastle has held this type of event and again it was an excellent day for attendees and great success for the satellite group.

Meeting from 9.30am we were greeted by the very friendly staff who served us with tea, coffees and biscuits whilst everyone got to know each other. We were then placed into small groups and given a safety briefing and full explanation of handling the guns.

By 10.30am we set to go with most of the attendees having never held a gun before, however thanks to the brilliant coaching from the instructors everyone managed to hit a number of clays each!!

We had a fantastic 3 course lunch provided by a catering company called Love Food and followed this up with a healthy afternoon competition. Prizes were supplied for the top 3 shooters of the day and everyone left feeling exhilarated, a little tired but very happy!

A big thank you to our sponsors of the day, Mark Gilbert Morse Solicitors and also to all the staff at Bywell Shooting Ground.

'This was my first WiP event.  I was a little apprehensive about the day as I didn't know anyone else attending and I had never even held a gun before.  I met lots of great people many of whom, like me, had never shot a gun before.  There was a nice group of people.  We had the opportunity to chat and have a laugh as well as get one-on-one instruction with the instructor.  The instructor we had was brilliant -very experienced and also made us all feel at ease- and by the time we finished the day I was able to actually hit a few clays.  I have to say I am hooked-can't wait for the next clay pigeon shoot.'
