Crossrail is providing a welcome boost to Britain’s struggling construction industry. In 2010 over £1bn of contracts were awarded and we have seen the announcement of further contracts going to Farringdon’s and Whitechapel’s Crossrail stations. Hear from Ian Lindsay, Land and Property Director of Crossrail, about Europe’s largest civil engineering project which is just about to enter the 24 hour a day tunnel boring phase and where thousands of construction workers will be employed on this and the building of stations along the route which is expected to carry 200 million passengers a year once completed.
