The Association of Women in Property

A Briefing on the Bribery Act 2010 and the Equality Act 2010

Wednesday 26 October 2011 at 12.30pm

Mackinnons Solicitors hosted a lunchtime CPD event at their offices in Carden Place, Aberdeen where 20 members and guests enjoyed a buffet lunch before being briefed on the key provisions of this recent legislation by Morag Christoffersen, an Associate in the firm's commercial department (pictured top right) and Lesley Rennie, a Solicitor in the firm's employment law team (pictured centre right).

The presentations covered the implications for business owners and employees and gave some thought-provoking examples of how businesses and also private members' clubs and associations such as Women in Property might fall foul of the protections afforded by the Equality Act.  We were all pleased to learn that single gender membership does pass legal scrutiny under the Act!  The degrees of corporate hospitality which are acceptable under the Bribery Act also gave rise to some lively discussion over coffee.
