A selection of lucky members from the North West branch of Women
in Property (WiP) were granted exclusive entry to one of
Manchester's most iconic properties, Beetham Tower's penthouse on
the 47th floor.
Penthouse residents, Jo Farrell and architect Ian Simpson,
hosted the event which raised over £500 for local women's
charity The Birdhouse Fund which Jo is the Chair.
The 45 WiP members had access all areas during a two hour visit
which saw both Jo and Ian address the guests with a
candid talk about life in the city's highest home, the rationale
behind the Beetham Tower and the design of their property.
Lisa Raynes, Chair of Women in Property North West Branch said:
"We want to give our members networking opportunities with a twist
and this was certainly one of our most highly anticipated events to
date. We are planning more events throughout the year with a
selection of the region's most inspirational speakers and in
inspired venues. Events like this help to raise the profile
of women working in the property industry and offer them
encouragement, support and a network of likeminded women to engage
with."
The North West Branch has around 150 members in the sector and
holds at least one event a month in Manchester and Liverpool.
The fund raising event marked the start of a packed year of events
and training for the branch under the steer of Chair Lisa
Raynes. Highlights are set to include the annual dinner at
the Manchester's Midland Hotel, the AGM at the St James's Club and
this summer's blue badge walks around the city.
A spokeswoman for the Birdhouse Fund said: "We are delighted
that Women in Property and Birdhouse Fund could work together for
this fantastic event. The money raised will go towards
helping a local woman to develop her skills and opportunities and I
sincerely hope the two groups can work together again soon."
