The Association of Women in Property

People's History Museum Tour, 01 September 2010

Our tour of the People's History Museum was lead by Daniel Hambleton of Austin Smith Lord, who was Project Architect on this scheme which is the only National Museum in Manchester.

Daniel led the group with through spaces not accessible to public to gain an insight into what happens 'backstage', and explained the links between the existing building and the new extension.

Although an architectural based tour Daniel lead the team through the galleries, talking about the importance of the artefacts are and how they shape our life today, with many references in the galleries to Women's movements throughout the years..

Following on from the tour we enjoyed a buffet lunch in the converted coal store at the top of the pumphouse.

'Thanks very much for organising today.  The museum tour was really interesting and I thought the lunch was great!  It was lovely to come along and meet the ladies of WiP, and I hope to see you again soon'
