Birmingham Big City Plan...what next - 13 July 2011

Women In Property were pleased to welcome Philip Singleton,  who presented an interesting insight into the Birmingham Big City Plan, as well as an innovative approach on how he would like to see Birmingham developed in the future. Philip has spent the last 7 years at senior positions in Birmingham City Council and the London Borough of Newham, and was the Assistant Director for City Centre Development and the Project Director for the Big City Plan. The event was well attended, and Philip's proposed development approach (which is based on a format used in Amsterdam, and centred round the sales of lots of individual plots, rather than large scale disposals to single developers) sparked a keen debate amongst the attendees as so the benefits and drawbacks of how this could work in practice.
