Derby multi-millionaire an
"inspiration"
Derby entrepreneur and star of Channel Four's Secret
Millionaire, Kavita Oberoi's personal account of her business
success and charity work has brought inspiration to property market
professionals in the city.
Speaking at an event organised by Women in Property last
week and hosted at Geldards office at Pride Park, the
multi-millionaire businesswoman explained to an audience of
property professionals from across the East Midlands, how she set
about establishing her national healthcare and IT consultancy.
The special event was one of a series of visits and talks
organised by members of the East Midlands branch of the Association
of Women in Property, an organisation dedicated with enhancement
and promotion of women in the construction industry and providing a
forum for business opportunities, the exchanging of views,
networking and personal development.
Commenting on the event, Geldards senior associate and
Women in Property committee member, Bela Zavery, said: "The seminar
was a great opportunity for people from different sectors of the
property market to speak to, and seek inspiration from, someone who
has done so superbly well, overcoming obstacles and making
sacrifices to get where she is today Kavita is phenomenally
inspiring, and we are proud to be associated with her."
Now residing in Derbyshire, Kavita described how she
balances her personal and professional life in order to achieve her
aims. At the end of her talk she answered questions about her
journey to the top, which has brought her accolades and numerous
awards from the world of business.
A life-time champion of charity work, Kavita, 38, appeared
on the Channel Four show The Secret Millionaire last August, posing
in a deprived area of Birmingham as a single mother wanting to get
back to work.
During her time there she volunteered for community
projects, subsequently becoming a director of the charity which
runs the Sisters with Voices mentoring programme. Kavita's interest
in the charity - designed to help boost young girls' self esteem
and achieve their full potential - continued, and she has since
helped bring the project to Derby.
