Clay Pigeon Shooting Day @ Pentillie Castle
18 May 2011
The Devon and Cornwall Satellite Branch had a very
successful day clay-pigeon shooting followed by an informal lunch
in the grounds of the renowned Pentillie Castle. The Channel
4 series, Country House Rescue, featured Pentillie Castle where
Ruth Watson advised the Coryton family during the restoration
period. Pentillie is now in its second year of trading and
the gardens and castle are magnificent.
The day proved to be an excellent opportunity for networking,
from a welcome coffee in the castle, the gentle stroll through the
estate gardens to start the shoot. The clay-pigeon shooting
emulated a normal pheasant shoot as far as possible, with
experienced instructors on hand at all times we quickly got the
hang of it some got a little competitive at the end! For all
bar one it was the first time clay-pigeon shooting and everyone
thoroughly enjoyed it. Photo on the right

Walking through the estate down to the bathing hut provided
another excellent opportunity to talk as we made our way to the
beautiful old building right on the River Tamar where a log fire
and lunch was waiting for us. To cap it all off we all came away
with a Pentillie cap as a memento of the day.
