Developing resilience, Edinburgh

Monday 20 September 2010 6:30 PM

Developing personal resilience is essential for good professionals who care about the work they do. For example, when deals go wrong, clients often blame their professionals who may have done the best job they could in a difficult situation. Professionals constantly have to make complex decisions in areas where there is no ‘right’ answer, only the best for that particular situation. Personal resilience is therefore essential built on having confidence in our own judgement, regardless of pressure from other people. This seminar looks at how to develop personal resilience and will include: • building confidence in your judgement and intuition, • making the most of work-based learning opportunities, • taking control of your career path, and • developing your credibility and profile. Fiona Westwood worked as a solicitor for 20 years before setting up her management and training consultancy, Westwood Associates (www.westwood-associates.com). Her new book ‘Developing resilience – the key to professional success’ will be published in September 2010 and members will be able to obtain a copy from her at the discount price of £15 (retail £25). Please remember that bookings cannot be accepted without accompanying payment.
